Commentary: A typical day in the Prima Plus office. Nico is more and more at ease in Germany, and with Germans. He’s made friends. lncluding one the police would like to meet.

Ich fahre ja morgen nach London und habe mir englisches Geld bestellt. Nehmen Sie meinen Ausweis und meine Scheckkarte, und Ihren Ausweis, und holen Sie mir bitte das Geld. Zweihundert Pfund. Von der Stadtsparkasse, direkt rechts, wenn Sie rauskommen. Danke.

Nico has been thrown out of his flat. 

Hausmeister: Na Herr Antonescu?

Nico: Was bedeutet das?

What does this mean?

Hausmeister: Das bedeutet, dass wir es nicht gerne sehen, wenn die Polizei ins Haus kommt.

This means that we don’t like it when we have the police here.

Nico: Wie bitte?

I beg your pardon?

Hausmeister (mimics): Wie bitte? Das verstehen Sie natürlich wieder nicht! Sie sind ja Ausländer.

I beg your pardon? Ah, you don’t understand again. You’re a foreigner, of course.

Nico: Ich will in meine Wohnung.

I want to go into my flat.

Hausmeister: Sie können nicht in Ihre Wohnung. Das ist nicht mehr Ihre Wohnung. Sie müssen raus, heute noch. Die Polizei hat was von Drogen gesagt.
