Commentary: Lunch break at D Plus Television. The ambitious Susanne Weiss wants to escape from Prima Plus to work in the big league with the current affairs journalists of Aktuell. Nico is a bit more flush than usual. He’s delivered his parcel from Amsterdam. And collected 200 marks.

 

ANNA AND ULLI IN THE CANTEEN

UIIi: Na, was sagst du? Kommst du heute Abend mit?

Anna: Ulli, ich kann heute wirklich nicht. Ich...

Anna: Am besten gehst du in ein Kaufhaus. Aber die Geschäfte machen ja um halb sieben zu. Da hast du nicht viel Zeit nach der Arbeit. Weißt du was, ich brauche eine Strumpfhose. Ich komme mit.

Anna: Lass mich mal schauen: Erdgeschoss...

Frauensachen, nein... Erste Etage... nein. Zweite Etage... Aha... CDs. Wir müssen rauf in die zweite Etage. Wir nehmen die Rolltreppe. Komm!

RECORD DEPARTMENT

Anna: Da Nico, schau, da sind die CDs. Was für Musik magst du denn?

Nico: Ich höre gerne klassische Musik.

Also erstens einmal musste ich dann so praktisch eine Gewähr unterschreiben, dass ich keine Kinder kriege, weil ich mich ausbilden lasse auf Kosten der Bank... und zweitens, da konnte doch was nicht stimmen, nicht, wenn die Frau bereit ist, weg von Frankfurt zu gehen für zwei Jahre. Aber die Zeiten sind lang vorbei.’

‘Then I heard that my personnel manager had said to my boss that there must be something wrong with my marriage if this woman is prepared to undergo training such a long way from home. Nico:Ja, gerne. (He knocks into a customer) Oh, Entschuldigung. (He realises it’s the man who gave him the package) Hallo. Möchten Sie auch einen Kaffee?

Yes, please. Oh, sorry! Hello. Like a coffee?

Man: Ja, warum denn nicht?

Nico: Noch einen Kaffee, bitte. Danke.

FRAU WEISS AND ANNA IN KOMMISSAR SCHLOEMER’S OFFICE

Frau Weiss: Guten Abend, Weiss ist mein Name... und das ist meine Assistentin, Frau Daniels.

Good evening, my name is Weiss... and this is my assistant, Frau Daniels.

Schloemer: Guten Abend. Bitte nehmen Sie Platz. Also, Frau Weiss, was kann ich für Sie tun?

Good evening. Have a seat. Well, Frau Weiss, what can I do for you?

Frau Weiss: Ja, wissen Sie, ich mache einen Film über den Drogenhandel in Köln und über die Methoden der Polizei.

Well, I’m making a film about the drug trade in Cologne, and about the police’s methods. Schloemer: Tja, Frau Weiss - unsere Methoden? Geduld, viel Geduld. Warten, warten, warten. Zum Beispiel... es gibt einen Mann... (He hands over some photos of Nico and the man in the cemetery) Wir beobachten ihn seit Monaten. Sicher ist dieser Mann ein Drogenhändler.

Well, Frau Weiss - our methods? Patience, lots of patience. Wait, wait, wait. For example, there’s a man... We’ve been watching him for months. He’s definitely a drug dealer.
