Commentary: 7.30 am in Köln. Nico Antonescu is on his way to D Plus for another day working with Anna Daniels, the production secretary of Prima Plus, UIli Michel, the programme’s production manager, and the woman Ulli is

pursuing, Elke Schneider, a video editor. But first a meeting he hasn’t planned…

 

A CAFE

UIIi: Ich möchte zahlen, bitte.

I’d like to pay, please.

Waitress: Zahlen? Ja.

Pay? Right.

UIIi: Ach, und könnten Sie mir sagen, wie spät es ist? Meine Uhr ist kaputt.

Waitress: Es ist zwanzig nach acht.

UIIi: Was, schon so spät!

Waitress: Fünf Mark, zwanzig, bitte. Haben Sie es nicht klein?

Man: Und ich... ich gebe dir Geld dafür. Also, ich muss ein Paket aus Amsterdam abholen - jetzt am Samstag.

And I’ll give you money for doing it. I’ve got to fetch a packet from Amsterdam - this Saturday.

Nico: Ein Paket - aus Amsterdam.

Man: Ja, ich kann aber nicht nach Amsterdam fahren. Meine alte Mutter... sie ist krank.

Nico: Ach je.

I see.

Man: Jemand muss das Paket aber holen. Wenn du es für mich holst, gebe ich dir zweihundert Mark.

Frau Maier: Wo ist denn Herr Michel? Um zehn Uhr müssen Sie doch das Kamerateam treffen, oder?

Anna: Ulli ist normalerweise immer um acht Uhr hier. Er ist sehr pünktlich.
